HELLO FROM BERKELEY!

Hello all people who are reading this :)

Will start off with an email I sent to my family yesterday. Photos and more adventure stories coming soon. Love you all!

Hi Family,

Just dropping a quick note to say hi from Berkeley :) We arrived around 1120 this morning (15 Aug), squeezed with 5 other people in a shuttle. I lugged my super duper heavy luggages up a steep “mountain” (it was incredibly tiring and a good work out!). After a shower headed out to the Berkeley area where some local students (friends of a friend) brought us around some parts of the area and showed us the nice places to eat :)

I’ve gotten myself a pre-paid SIM card - +1 (510) XXX-XXXX. I get to call internationally for the same price as local calls.

The weather is great, rather sunny and was around 20 degrees when we landed, I was in my tank top for most of the day till the sun set and only then it got a bit chilly and had to throw a sweater on. We had dinner right on the lawn at the UC Berkeley campus, hot dogs from a chain called TOP DOG and I had unfiltered apple juice :) Yummy!

Berkeley is a really interesting place. I’m still in a bit of a jet-lagged state, feeling a bit floaty but was really enjoyed that walk that we took the entire afternoon. There are all kinds of people here, hippies, jugglers, people with crazy hair and all. We accidentally walked into the shady area, near a place called People’s Park. It was a tad nerve-wrecking, and we walked out really fast to a more friendly street with our shades on and ignoring everyone else along the way.

Tomorrow, we’ll probably be heading into San Francisco to ride the BART because apparently the people are going on strike on Monday and the trains will be closed.
Ok, I think that’s all from me from now. Very sleeepy! Call soon ok?

Love, Olie

PS: Mum, need to talk to you about the banking stuff.
