Berkeley has all kinds of cool shops. Hardly any chains or franchises. So far, I’ve only seen one Starbucks, one McDonalds and one Ben and Jerry’s. There are no malls!
We were at a restaurant called Smart Alec’s just yesterday. It’s supposedly healthy food for us students, where you can order things like the ‘BIG A’ or the ‘BIG B’ burger. Apparently if you get an A in class, you can bring down your transcript and you get free food or something :)
